Aerobatics over Whaddon

Many villagers have found the aircraft aerobatics regularly performed close to Whaddon to be intrusive with the associated noise to be at an unacceptable level. Research has suggested that most of the aircraft involved originate from Little Gransden airfield and to seek clarification of the position the Parish Council invited Councillor Lister Wilson, Chairman of the Little Gransden Aerodrome Local Consultative Committee (LGALCC), who is also County Councillor for the Gamlingay Division, to address the January PC meeting on the situation at the airfield.  The LGALCC is a forum for both complaints and praise and indeed not everybody finds the aerobatic activity unwelcome.  It appears that the airfield is privately owned with the owners being on most occasions the aerobatic pilots.  There is a history of complaints but it appears that the airfield operates within SCDC planning permission and as far as we can see these complaints have achieved very little. Nevertheless, there is a complaints procedure involving SCDC and the airfield operator and we intend to become involved in this by formally reporting incidents (a form is available, see below) and taking a closer interest in the work of the LGALCC. As a starter, we will have a team of three people who will monitor aerobatic activity and register complaints if it is appropriate. In this way, we hope to build a picture of the frequency and intrusiveness of the aerobatics and, if necessary, take our views beyond the local committee to the Civil Aviation Authority.

Cllr Wilson's web site has a form which should be used for submitting complaints--NO OTHER MEDIUM IS ACCEPTED. There is a link to the form below, and to Cllr Wilson's web page which has his contact details and more.

Residents with any other concerns on this matter should address them to the PC.
